Low risk/lodging. Our customers pay up front. Have Heartland Payment now at 1.8, 20 cents per transaction, debit at around 50 cents per transaction, most of my card are coming across in non qual buckets which pisses me off but I don't know what to do. I hate the $99 fee for nothing and $10/mo statement fee. Anything better out there?

There's a good chance this is because they do not have you set up using lodging software in your terminal or POS system. What kind of terminal software are you using?

Also what is the $99 "fee for nothing" for? What do they call it or claim it is for?

The $10/month statement is pretty standard. You might find something better but that won't really make a substantial difference in your overall costs.

I have to agree, that you are probably not on a lodging application and most likely have the wrong terminal for it. Heartland is known to price merchants incorrectly or quote a price and actually have it set-up wrong.

The $99 fee is probably a pci compliance fee or some other type of fee along those lines.

If you are set-up on a lodging application, pin based debit is not possible and they couldn't process the debit at 50 cents because that is cheaper than Visa/MasterCard's floor price.

The bad part about the "Non Qualified" fees is that they don't break down exactly what they are so you don't know how to prevent them. I would suggest looking into alternative processors. I can provide you with a few if you would like. Please let me know.
