Is Sage Payment Solutions a third-party?

I have been using them for credit card auth. How can I get a rating on them and all merchant account services? They have started charging more for "security" I'm thinking about changing. Thanks for the help.

They look like a true merchant account provider as they have registered as a MSP/ISO in the United States.

As far as getting a rating on them, well, there is no place to do that as of right now. The best you can do is a Google search on their company name and see what others have been saying about them.

im not sure the rating on them either. visa/mastercard and the large banks and primary processors are going to try and show visa/mastercard they are being proactive with security compliance here in the near future and most will be charging for security compliance including small iso's. we will see how it all takes place, but most will be charging some sort of fee as it requires resources to make sure merchants are in security compliance as visa/mastercard makes the processors perform extra functions/checks/paperwork. the ones that are currently charging it could just be trying to take advantage of the situation, which happens all to often with some.

Sage is not an actual processor. If you went straight through a processor, like First Data or TSYS, they would charge you more. Sage (and most other registered ISO/MSPs) get low rates in exchange for an agreement with the processor. Sage Payment Solutions is owned by Sage Software, based in the UK. They have several software companies in the U.S., including Peachtree Accounting software, and numberous healthcare softwares. What this means is, they have a LOT of capital behind them. Unlike other processors, who have security breaches and your personal info gets stolen, Sage has the resources to ensure that will never happen. They will never be bought out, and they will never go under.

Sage processes for almost 200,000 merchants, making them one of the top ten registered in the U.S. today. They are in the top 3 of processors who do not process their own transaction (CHASE, B of A, First Data, Global, Elevon, etc)

Sage is a great company to be with. If they raised your rates, give them a call and discuss why. Visa/MC raise the base rates twice a year, so that usually gets passed on to you, the merchant.

Let me know if you need anything else!

They have a good reputation in the field. I have always listened good comments about their responsible behavior and customer dealing process. Have you tried to inquire your company about this issue?
